Gus and Eunice Kubish to celebrate 50th anniversary years ago

August and Eunice Kubish of Andover, will observe the 50th anniversary of their marriage on Aug. 23. The couple was married in 1952 in Chicago.

Kubish is a Baptist pastor, retiring from full time ministry in August 1987. His wife, a full-time homemaker, also worked as secretary at several churches.

Before meeting his wife, Kubish was a cadet in the U.S. Army Air Corps, graduating during World War II as a flight officer and bombardier. He attended Michigan State College as part of the Army program and went on to graduate with a bachelor of arts degree from Kings College in 1950. He obtained a master's degree in music from Central Conservatory of Chicago in December 1951. In 1957, he graduated from the pastor's course at Moody Bible Institute with an emphasis in Christian education.

In 44 years of ministry, Pastor Kubish served churches in Chicago, Colorado, Nebraska, and Kansas including Peabody First Baptist from 1990 to 1996.

The couple has eight children and 27 grandchildren.
