Group plans folk festival
The 2006 German/Low German Folk Fest will be presented May 27 by Friends of the Hillsboro Museums at the historic Mennonite Brethren Church located on D Street, south of Tabor College.
The German Singers will perform followed by Don Huebert who will reminisce about Low German, and Willmar Harder will lead Low German devotional.
German sausage sandwich meals will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the scout house.
Moos, zwieback, peppernuts, porzelke, and other foods will be sold from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Hillsboro Museums Visitors Center.
From 1:30 to 2 p.m. the German Singers will perform followed by a devotional by Harder, proverbs and sayings by Huebert, and a performance by the Schnigglefritz Band.
Museum tours will be provided from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.
Admission is $5 at the door or free with a Hillsboro Family Fun Festival Button.
