Grant funds available for county juvenile issues

Proposals now are being accepted by the Eighth Judicial District Corrections Advisory Board.

Funding is available for organizations and programs that provide prevention services with the eighth judicial district which includes Marion, Dickinson, Geary, and Morris counties.

Priority will be given to programs that reduce specific problem behaviors such as delinquency, school drop out, substance abuse, teen pregnancy, and violence.

Programs also should address at least one of the JJA outcomes to reduce crime, reduce the number of youth being removed from family or community, increased knowledge and skills of juveniles returning to the community, and increased accountability of youth within a community.

Approximately $20,000 is available for program use from July 2006 through June 2007.

Applications can be found on the juvenile justice web site at http://jja.state.ks.us/.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. Nov. 1, and can be mailed or hand delivered to Barbara Baldwin, program development and evaluation coordination, Eighth Judicial District Community Corrections, 801 N. Washington, Suite B, Junction City KS 66441.
