Granddaughter receives governor s honors award
Nicole Suzanne Thiessen was one of 232 graduates from Seaman High School at Topeka.
At the invitation of Governor Kathleen Sebelius, she was selected to attend the 22nd Annual Governor's Scholarship Award Program. The recognition ceremony honors the top one percent of Kansas high school seniors.
Niki graduated suma cum laud with a GPA of 4.375. She also was named a Kansas Board of Regents scholar, received honorable mention of the 2005 Academic all-state team, and was awarded the Watkins-Berger scholarship to attend University of Kansas.
Nicole is the daughter of Lyle and Paula Thiessen. Grandparents are David and Welma Thiessen and Marvin and Thelma Warkentine, all of Peabody.
