Grace Dunn
Grace E. Dunn, 98, died Jan. 9, 2003, at Country View Estates Care Home, Seneca.
She was born Aug. 7, 1904, at Harrisonville, Mo., to Gustav and Augusta (Massel) Kottwitz.
The family moved to Peabody and she graduated from Peabody High School in 1923. In 1933, she received a bachelor's degree in home economics from Kansas State Agricultural College, then taught school in Wyoming and Marion County.
She had lived in Seneca since 1948 and had been a resident of the care home since May 25, 1994.
She was married to Clarence Dunn in 1936. He died in 1991.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Seneca Garden Club, and Kansas State Alumni Association.
An avid reader, she also enjoyed gardening, sewing, needlework, and in her younger days, swimming.
Survivors include three sons, Wayne of Grapevine, Texas, Donnell of Fargo, N.D., and Howard of Richardson, Texas; a daughter, Joyce Barrett of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Carol Elaine Dunn; four brothers, Walter, Oscar, Otto, and Herbert Kottwitz; and three sisters, Elva Hett, Frieda Everett, and Lena Sager.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Lauer Funeral Home, with Pastor Jennifer K. Collins officiating.
Organist was Nancy Gafford. Casket bearers were Patrick South, Jay Dunn, Christopher Dunn, Brian Barrett, Brent Barrett, and Alan Dunn.
Burial was in Seneca City Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Seneca Free Library.
