Golfers take second in Desert Classic
In a field of five teams, Peabody-Burns High School golfers took second place April 11 on its home course.
The team shot 268, finishing behind Chase County at 263. Riley County placed third at 303, Yates Center was next with 306, and Remington rounded out the field with 317.
PBHS had three medalists on the day. Joseph Zappone led the team with a second place finish and a nine-hole score of 38. Jeremy Berger shot 43 and placed eighth, while Brian Wingert was ninth also shooting a 43.
Anthony Jones finished 11th with a score of 45. Travis Pohlman shot 47 and took 13th place, and Jake Watts was 21st with a round of 52.
Thomas McGee was first on the junior varsity team with a round of 43.
Forty-seven golfers participated in the tournament.
