Golf tourney to benefit Warrior football
Team building has become an important part of Warrior football. Among other things team members and coaches gather together and watch tapes of opposing teams the night before a game.
A meal is provided to the student-athletes at the meeting and another is served to them the following night before the game.
Both meals are nutritious and are provided for every team member by the parents of the players. Healthy snacks like fruit are provided for the halftime break and at the bench as needed during the game.
"We want to make sure the meals are nutritious, but don't cause a financial hardship for those parents who may not be able to afford it. So we are trying to raise some funds to help pay for the program," said Travis Foth, one of the organizers of the fund raiser.
Tee time for the golf scramble at Peabody Lakeside Country Club will be 1 p.m. June 30. The tournament will be limited to the first 18 teams. A suggested donation of $100 per four-man team is requested. The charge covers a T-shirt, roast pork meal, one ticket for some great prizes, and food throughout the day.
Carts are available for $40 and arrangements need to be made with Foth by June 27 to reserve one.
"We plan to have a good time for a good cause," said Foth. "We hope people will read about it and put together a team of golfers — co-ed or not — and come out on the 27th for the fun and to help the Warrior football team."
