Goessel girls scored 16 points in the first quarter Jan. 10 against a talented Berean team and led 29-27 at the half.

They only scored 12 points in the second half and ended the game losing to Berean 58-41.

Rinda Duerksen scored 14 points. Brittany Dirksen canned 10. Kory Hiebert added eight; Courtney Berkholz, six; Jenny Raymond, two; and Katie Flaming, one.

This was the third meeting this season with the Berean Warriors and Goessel has not been able to pull away with a win.

The Bluebirds trailed by six against Inman Friday at the end of the first quarter and by eight at the end of the third quarter.

They slowly pecked away at the Inman lead but it wasn't enough and Inman won, 55-50.

Berkholz led with 18 points; Hiebert 13; Duerksen and Dirksen, eight each; and Trenae Wilson, three.

The Goessel girls will have one game Friday at Little River as the boys participate in the Burrton tournament.

Next week the girls will compete in the Berean tournament.
