Goessel cross country team will compete at state

Evan Fast picked up a second-place medal Saturday with a time of 18 minutes, 40 seconds at the 1A regional cross country meet at Lake Afton.

Fast, a senior for Goessel High School, has had the fastest times on the Bluebird squad in every meet this year. Brady Peters (19:59) and Kellen Jenkins (20:04) finished 11th and 12th respectively out of a field of 39 runners.

Casey Wedel finished in 17th (20:26), Jake Schrag came in 25th, Anthony Esau 27th, and Chris Johnston 34th.

GHS finished first at the 12-team meet. Pretty Prairie and Stafford also qualified as a team. The boys will run Saturday at 10 a.m. at Wamego.

Janessa Wedel finished 12th overall with a time of 14:39 and will be rewarded with a trip to state for the second year in a row. She will run at 9 a.m. Saturday at Wamego.
