Glenn Kurtenbach
Glenn V. Kurtenbach, 54, lifelong resident of Herington, died July 23, 2002, at Herington Municipal Hospital.
Born April 6, 1948, at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, he was the son of F. LeRoy and Agnes L. (Haslouer) Kurtenbach.
Funeral mass was held Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church, Herington, with the Rev. Mark Wesely officiating. Burial followed at St. John's Cemetery.
Kurtenbach was a rancher-farmer and a parts man for Herington Tractor Co. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Herington, and a member of the choir, church council, and Knights of Columbus. He served eight years as a member of USD 487 (Herington) school board; two years as president of the Morris County Farm Bureau; and the Kansas Livestock Association.
He graduated from Herington High School in 1966 and received a bachelor's degree in animal science at Kansas State University in 1970.
He married Barbara E. Gustason at St. Xavier's Catholic Church in Junction City June 6, 1970. She survives at the home. Other survivors include two sons, Ryan Kurtenbach of Emporia and Scott Kurtenbach of Pilsen; his mother Agnes Kurtenbach of Herington; and a sister Beth Speltz of Clay Center.
Memorials may be given to St. John's Catholic Church, choir fund, or USD 487 library fund.
