Glenn is state champion

Gaston Glenn, grandson of James and Carmen South of Peabody, finished the season as the number one breaststroker in Kansas with a time of 59:66 at the state swimming and diving meet held this past weekend at the Capitol Federal Natatorium in Topeka.

Glenn also took fourth in the 100 butterfly and his 200 medley relay team took second, helping his team, Wichita Heights High School, to a fourth place finish, overall.

Prior to the state championship, the Heights Falcons captured the Wichita city league title for the third year in a row.

Glenn broke the 24-year-old city league breaststroke record with a time of 59:86. He also won the 100 butterfly and anchored his 400 freestyle relay team which also broke the city league record with a time of 3:22:52.

Glenn also was named to the First Team All-City Team in Wichita and First Team All-State.
