Garden gang names speakers

Peabody Main Street's "How Does YOUR Garden Grow?" series is proud to announce the list of speakers and presenters in their first Women's Fair.

Keynote speaker Marilyn Holt of the Kansas Humanities Council will speak on "Linoleum, Better Babies, and the Modern Farm Woman." She is from Abilene and is an independent historian who teaches and consults on Kansas history.

Entitled "Daffodils, Doilies, & Delicacies," the fair also includes Kay Neff, a master gardener from the Harvey County Extension Office, who will speak on "Herbology," Peabody's own Shirley (Hull) Davis, who will speak on "Reflexology and Aromatherapy," and Connie LaRue of Jack Rabbit Hollow, who will demonstrate making ribbon flower daffodils.

A luncheon menu of spring greens with poppy seed dressing, wild rice and mushroom soup, butterhorn rolls, and Schaum torte is included with the price of the registration.

The event will be held at Peabody Senior Center April 12 with check-in beginning at 8:30 a.m. The day will wrap-up around 1 p.m. with everyone taking home a goodie bag.

The Women's Fair committee has been hard at work bringing all of this together and they are excited as the event draws nearer. They want to remind everyone to get their registrations in early, as space is limited. There is an early-bird special of $10 if your registration is sent in by March 28.. After that, the price goes up to $12.

If you have any questions about this event, please call Peabody Main Street director Joanna Brazil, at 620/983-2174, or Peggy Radisewitz-Weir at 620/983-2353.
