Gaines family hosts pre-Thanksgiving dinner

Ronnie and Patti Gaines hosted a pre-Thanksgiving dinner Sunday. Special guests were Megan and Ashlie Koehn and their parents, Jeff and Jill Koehn of Hutchinson, Esther Highfill of Shiloh Manor in Canton, Kenny and Roma Koehn of Galva, Ty and Kim Gaines of Emporia, and Dusty Gaines of Newton. Ronnie and Patti went to Canton Saturday to call on her mother Esther Highfill. They took her out for supper and shopping. They went to Newton Saturday evening to call on Ronnie's mother, Maude Gaines. She is improving.

Marvin and Sherol Nightengale had all their children home Sunday for a pre-Thanksgiving dinner. The family included Jim and Linda Hess, Allie and Amelia of Kearney, Mo., Mitch and Cathy Foote and Kristen of Manhattan, and Brad and Diane Nightengale, Roger, Laura, and Casey of El Dorado. Sherol and Linda called on Maude Gaines Saturday evening at Newton Medical Center.

Lawrence and Lois Sayers and Bill and Jean Smith were Friday evening guests of Bruce and Sheila Sayers, Megan and Jessica at Prairie Rose near Benton. They report a great evening.

Renferd and Wanda Koehn, Lonnie, Dalen, and Carolee and Nathan and Ella Koehn were Sunday dinner guests of Roland and Kim Koehn, Doug, Kaylee, and Diane. Their daughter, Deby, of Homeworth, Ohio, also was there. She came home for the church conference to be held at the coliseum several days this week. Kim's parents, Chester and Marcella Koehn of Halstead also were guests.

Mary Langenegger and Joyce Kyle met Archie and Maryellen Stenzel of Marion Wednesday morning at Burns Café. In the evening Gene Obee, Kathleen Brenzikofer, Mary and Joyce went to the home of Ted and Lois Roth for the First Mennonite Senior Fellowship. There were 24 attending the supper.

Don and Laverna Parrish and Joyce Kyle attended a Hospice meeting Thursday in Newton.

Evelyn Sidener, Kathleen Brenzikofer, and Joyce Kyle went Friday to the Senior Citizens of Marion County board meeting at Peabody. In the evening Joyce was a guest at the Burns Community Building for a birthday party for Christopher Grimwood, who turned one.

Kathleen Brenzikofer, Mary Langenegger, and Joyce Kyle attended the funeral of Nona Dauber Saturday afternoon at the Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion.
