Fred Weber Sr.

Fred H. Weber Sr., 103, Potwin, died Aug. 29, 2003, at Wheat State Manor in Whitewater.

Born Jan. 21, 1900, at Tobias, Neb., he was the son of the late Gottlop and Ida (Schilke) Weber.

On March 28, 1928, he was married to Ruby Faye Geer. She died Feb. 7, 1978.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 12 sisters and brothers, and one granddaughter.

A member of Potwin Christian Church, he came to the community with his brother and brother-in-law in two covered wagons. They settled five miles east of Potwin.

Survivors include three sons, Fred Jr. of Newton, Arnold of Neodesha, and Mel of Enid, Okla.; a daughter, Gladys Krauss of Olathe; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services were held Tuesday afternoon at the church in Potwin with the Rev. Carl Bush officiating.

Burial was in McGill Cemetery, south of Potwin.

Memorial funds have been established with the church and with Hospice Care of Kansas at Newton.
