Fourth Fest Society gearing up for celebration
The 2004 July Fourth extravaganza will encompass a weekend this year and the Fourth Fest Society is working hard to offer a "bigger than ever" celebration.
In addition to the traditional fireworks show, this year the society has secured a carnival for the first time in several years. There will be a softball tournament, the Kiwanis flea market has been expanded to two days, and the parade will run its traditional route from the high school to the park and will feature floats, kids, cars, reunion groups, and other entries.
The alumni association will host the annual alumni dance July 3 at the American Legion.
Anyone wishing to contribute to the fireworks is encouraged to do so whether in remembrance of a family member or a high school class, or as a business sponsor or individual. For information regarding single sponsorship of set pieces or aerials, contact Kristi Silvernale at (620) 983-2589 or Brian or Alisa McDowell at 983-2550.
Donations to the general fireworks fund are welcome and donors may designate the set pieces or aerials they want their donation to help sponsor.
