Foth wins honors in state competition
Staff writer Michael Pearce, scored an 85 and a second place ribbon.
One whitetail deer, owned by Travis Forth of Peabody, scored a 91 and first place ribbon.
The other whitetail, owned by Pat Post of rural Burns, scored a 92, a first place ribbon, a category ribbon, and was named Kansas Best Whitetail Mount in the professional and/or master's division.
Forty-five deer mounts were in the judging with Foth's two whitetails receiving the only two blue ribbons.
"Winning the best in the professional division was the icing on the cake," said Foth. "I've tried for six years to win and it seemed like it just wasn't going to happen. When it finally did, I was second guessing myself. I wasn't sure the mounts were good enough to win, but they did."
Foth now will compete in the Oklahoma Championships and hopefully the National Championships in Missouri in June.
