Every year, Kansas State University recognizes alumni who have distinguished themselves in their career.

Warren Weibert, former resident of the Durham community, was named the 2006 alumni fellow from the College of Agriculture.

He earned a bachelor's degree in animal science in 1969.

He and his wife Carol own Decatur County Feed Yard, a large, cattle-feeding operation at Oberlin, where he has been president and general manager since 1977.

They have specialized in retained ownership of cattle since 1980 and have used electronic cattle management since 1994.

Weibert has been active in the Kansas Livestock Association, serving as president in 1998. He also served on numerous committees of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association and was chairman of the Kansas Agricultural and Rural Leadership board of directors.

A longtime volunteer for K-State, Weibert was on the alumni association board of directors in 1994, the agriculture alumni board and the College of Agriculture dean's advisory council. He currently serves as a KSU Foundation trustee.

Weibert is a 1964 graduate of Durham High School. His parents are Dave Wiebert and the late Doris Weibert. Dave and his second wife, Shirley, live in Hillsboro.

Warren and Carol have two grown children: a son in Texas and a daughter in Chicago.
