Forensics team earns second place
Chase County High School hosted an invitational forensics meet Saturday and the Peabody-Burns team came away with a second place plaque.
Other schools competing were Centre, Clay Center, Council Grove, Flinthills, Hartford, Herington, Hillsboro, Hope, Marais Des Cynes Valley, Marion, Northern Heights, and Olpe.
Individual medal winners from PBHS were Eve Benyusova, first in poetry interpretation; Jesse Riggs, second in humorous solo acting; Jeconiah Spangler and Ricky Hill, third in both duet acting and improvised duet acting; Sandra McLeod, third in serious solo acting; Anna Zappone, fifth in humorous solo acting; Krystal Brown, sixth in serious solo acting; and Katy Schmidt, sixth in poetry interpretation.
Frankie Stevenson also placed with a ninth in prose interpretation from a field of 37 contenders.
Holly Faunce, Jade Garcia, Charity Gwinup, and Micah Hilliard also were competitors.
The forensics group attended an invitational meet at Hesston on Tuesday. Results are not available at presstime.
