FLORENCE YESTERYEARS: 75 years ago
NOVEMBER 3, 1927
Cold weather arrived in Florence and this section of Kansas late Tuesday evening, after about a month of extremely high temperatures for this season. The mercury stood around 80 degrees during most of October, and last Saturday a light rain fell. Sunday, however, brought another fine, warm day and the sun was out all day. This Wednesday morning the mercury dropped to below 40 degrees F., and a heavy frost was seen.
This week at the Mayflower Theatre — Madge Bellamy, Lawrence Gray, and J. Farrell McDonald in "Ankles Preferred." Bring your wife to see this one — they'll enjoy it, though they may not enjoy your enjoyment. The story of a girl who tried to play the game with brains, but found ankles were trumps.
