A Canadian government request for information concerning war department pigeon lofts has revealed that a group of veteran birds that carried messages in the war still are serving the country. They are included in the 465 pigeons in the army breeding loft in New Jersey. Among the pigeon heroes is "President," the bird that lost a leg while returning with a message from tanks in the St. Mihiel offensive. "Mocker" is another of the war wounded, having had one eye shot out at St. Mihiel.
