OCTOBER 16, 1952

While on bivouac near Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, each man spends a night at guard duty with an unloaded carbine. Men are instructed never to let anyone inspect or handle their firearm while on guard. A favorite trick of young officers is to ask to inspect the guard's rifle. One trainee, who handed over his carbine on request was asked, "Now what would you do if I were the enemy?" Quickly our hero whipped out his automatic: "This one's loaded," he said, "and that one ain't. Give it back." The lieutenant did so hastily, and no more was heard of the incident.

Den 1 of the Cub Scouts of Pack 107, Florence, were guests of radio station KFH Saturday at 9 o'clock on the Boy Scouts' Hour. Following this the Cubs were guests of the police department of Wichita and shown through the station.
