Florence Labor Day committee to hold meeting
Anyone in the Florence community who is interested in helping with this year's Labor Day celebration (Aug. 31 to Sept. 2) is invited to the Labor Day committee's organizational meeting at 4 p.m. Sunday at the city ambulance building.
Plans are to continue with many of the events which have proven to be so successful in past years, but the committee hopes to add some additional items as well. Fresh ideas and suggestions are being sought by those in charge.
Organizers have been in touch with an area car club and are hoping to reinstate the car show that was so popular in the past. The flea market and the arts and crafts fair are scheduled again as are many of the events for children.
The meeting on Sunday will be a time for discussing new ideas as well as forming committees to handle the many facets of the weekend. Part of the meeting will be devoted to the election of officers.
Community members are encouraged to attend. For more information, contact Janette Parmley at 878-4646.
