Florence Labor Day Committee has organizational meeting
Florence Labor Day Committee had its first organizational meeting of the year Feb. 23 at the ambulance building.
Discussion items included plans for Spring Fling set for May 1. The second annual Tour De Florence bike ride also will be held that day. Watch area newspapers about press releases for the bike ride rules and regulations, starting times, etc.
The Labor Day Committee will take part along with the historical society, Pride Committee, and chamber of commerce in promoting Florence May 7-8 with a booth at Kansas Sampler
Festival in Newton.
In keeping with Florence's railroad history, this year's Labor Day theme is "Florence — Full Steam Ahead." Voting for the Labor Day button will take place at Spring Fling.
Those attending the meeting included chairman Sue Klassen, secretary Mary Jane Grimmett, treasurer Kelli Savage and members Sara Neal, Mike and Jackie Sigwing, Trayce and Mike Warner, Alice Hayes, Cindy Holt, and Melvin Honeyfield.
