Florence chamber seeks welcome basket items

Florence business owners were asked to contribute items for welcome baskets during the meeting of the Florence Chamber of Commerce.

The meeting was held Oct. 2 at the Florence Senior Center. Those attending were Joel and Alice Hayes, Ben Brunson, Rod and Twilah Williams, Toni Fletcher, Ed and Neva Robinson, Kathleen and Ronald Ludwig, Cindy Holt, Mary Jane Grimmett, Bill Dyar, Darla Gore, Vickie Turner, Sue Klassen, Dan Ludwig, and Bill Edmunds.

The welcome baskets will be given to new families moving to town. It also was reported that signs erected at the entrances to Florence soon will be finished.

Santa will visit Florence Dec. 6 to eat breakfast with children. Darla Gore and Sarah Cope will chair this event. Mary Jane Grimmett will be chairman of the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony Dec. 6 at Veteran's Park.

Members were reminded the election is Nov. 4 regarding the 3/4 percent sales tax for Florence.

Twilah Williams reported 16 Florence historical afghans had been sold. Anyone interested in purchasing one may contact Twilah.

Williams Service, Inc., owned by Rod and Twilah Williams, will be the featured members during the month of October.
