Fishing tourney will benefit needy
Family and friends of Craig White will host a fishing tournament June 9 at Peabody Country Club to raise funds for a memorial established in White's memory.
Money raised is used to help people temporarily down on their luck due to illness, the loss of a job, or even a natural disaster. Recipients are not named.
The tournament will begin at 8 a.m. and the final weigh-in will end the competition at 4 p.m. sharp.
All participants must have a valid Kansas fishing license, must fish in two-person teams, may enter flatheads and catfish only (no bullheads), do not have to fish at the country club, but if they do, they must bank-fish only. Kansas creel limits apply.
The tournament is a one-day pass to fish the Peabody Country Club. Non-members are not allowed to fish at the club without a current member except for the day of the Craig White Tournament.
A charge of $20 per team will apply. Prizes will be awarded to first and second place winners in several categories.
A barbecue and drawing for prizes will take place after the weigh-in. For more information or to make donations for food or the drawing contact Todd Henderson, 983-2451, Mark Levering, 983-2221, or Bret O'Dell, 983-2097.
