The Firebirds baseball team composed of Peabody-Burns 10-year-olds, competed another week of baseball with two wins.

The first game, played June 16, was against a younger, yet talented, team, also from Peabody and Burns.

Starting pitcher for the Firebirds was Caleb Hilliard. Other pitchers in the game were Sean Brunner, Daniel Martinez, Dylan Jones, and Joseph Lopez.

The team managed to rack up a total of 12 hits in the five innings played. The Firebirds won by the score of 19 to 12.

The Thursday night game was against a very tough opponent, a team from Marion. Both teams put forth their best pitchers and the battle began.

Jason Wingert pitched the two opening innings and Caleb Hilliard pitched the final four.

The Firebirds managed to accumulate eight hits for the game while scoring nine runs in six innings of play.

The team led throughout the game by only a slim margin.

The Marion #1 team closed in on the Firebirds, scoring two runs each in the fifth and sixth innings to tie the game. The Firebirds had last bat and needed to score only a single run to win.

Trevor Foth was lead-off batter in the sixth inning and hit a single to right field. Joseph Lopez was up to bat next and managed to get a hit which brought in the winning run.

The final score was Firebirds 9, Marion 8.

The team record now stands at six wins and two losses. Three games remain to be played.
