Fern Waggy

Fern M. Waggy, 84, of Florence, died Feb. 17, 2004.

Born Oct. 12, 1919, near Burns, she was the daughter of Olen Wesley and Maggie Jewel (Freeman) McIntosh. She grew up in the Burns area and graduated from Burns High School in 1937.

On July 12, 1939, she married Sherwood Waggy at Cottonwood Falls. She spent most of her life as a homemaker and farm wife, taking great pride in her family.

She loved to sew, cook, garden, and work crossword puzzles. She was a member of the 20th Century Club in Burns.

Survivors include her husband, Sherwood of Florence; two sons, Ronald of Cheney and Rex of Burns; a sister, Rosalie Heath of Burns; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at Zeiner Funeral Home, Florence. The Rev. Wayne Handle and the Rev. Bill Dyar officiated.

Daytha Langenegger was vocalist, singing "How Great Thou Art," and "One Day at a Time." Cynthia Lempke was pianist.

Casket bearers were Jon Waggy, Jeff Waggy, Ed Robinson, Bill Robinson, Pat Post, and Dick McLinden.

Memorial funds have been established with Central Homecare and Hospice or the Florence Ambulance Service.
