Farmers Market begins season
Doyle Valley Farmers Market begins its ninth season when it opens Saturday at Santa Fe Park.
The market again has received a grant from the Kansas Rural Center to assist in developing awareness of locally grown and produced foods in the community.
Kansas magazine tells of more than 70 local markets in the state. Educating consumers as to seasonal produce, showing health values, great tastes, and interaction between growers and the dining public all are parts of the mission statement.
This year's marketing theme will be "victory gardens" as a way of participating in Operation Celebration.
