Fall sports practices begin
Staff writer
Fall sports practices began last week for the Peabody-Burns Junior and Senior High School. Football, cross country, and volleyball teams now are preparing for the 2003 season. Play will begin during the first week of September.
Students in cross country and football braved the 100 degree heat, but managed to stay cool with frequent water breaks. All of the teams were treated to some cooler practice time at the pool.
The Warrior football team again is not big in numbers, but includes a lot of familiar faces from the award-winning 2002 season.
Cross country boasts bigger numbers for this year with 13 high school participants and six Tomahawks on the team.
The PBHS volleyball squad will look much the same as in 2002, with a strong senior representation.
The junior high football and volleyball teams have good numbers and will be ready for their first games early in September.
