Fair to be Victorian tea, fashion show

Peabody Main Street Association will present its next session in the "How Does YOUR Garden Grow?" women's series, "Pansies, Petticoats and Petit Fours," a Victorian tea and Civil War-era fashion show.

The event, hosted by the Victorian Revival Society, will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 18 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The tea includes elegant refreshments and music presented by Jon and Betsy Goering, who perform in the group of Civil War period musicians, "The Free Staters." Following the tea, a fashion show featuring costumes of the Civil War period as well as a vintage makeover, and fashion review will be held.

The cost for the event is $12. One free $5 Peabody Bucks gift certificate will be given with purchase of each ticket, compliments of Peabody Main Street Association. Plan to come early to shop before the tea. In addition, fabulous door prizes will be awarded to some lucky women, including two porcelain tea sets.

The Victorian Revival Society is a group of Victorian enthusiasts who have presented a number of unique period events such as vintage baseball games, cemetery tours, and theatrical productions such as "The Matchmaker."
