Esther Wiebe

Esther Wiebe, 83, of Whitewater, died Feb. 5, 2002, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

The daughter of Gustav and Anna (Wiebe) Harder, she was born Sept. 9, 1918, at Whitewater.

On July 25, 1946, she married Waldimar Wiebe at Emmaus Mennonite Church, Whitewater.

She was a graduate of Hesston Academy and attended one year at Biola College and two years at Bethel College before teaching for two years in country schools. She was a member of Emmaus Mennonite Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Veron Gene; a daughter, Laura Mae; a brother; and two sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Waldimar, of Whitewater; three sons, Douglas, Gordon, and Laurence, all of Whitewater; three daughters, Florene Goering of Galva, Donna Regier of Newton, and Marcella Dorsch of Burkina Faso, Africa; five brothers, Gus and Gerhard Harder of Whitewater, Walter Harder of Newton, Arthur Harder of Olathe, and Harold Harder of El Dorado; three sisters, Martha Dyck of Normal, Ill., Elsie Regier of Newton, and Ella Harnluy of Manheim, Pa.; and 28 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Emmaus Mennonite Church with Pastor Rodney Crowell officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Memorials have been established with Gideon International, Berean Academy, Elyria Christian School, and Campus Crusade.
