Enthusiasm builds for Western Wonderland
By Kristen Hooper
Director, Peabody Main Street Association
With the ambiance of the festive houses decorated for the season and the wonderful western display windows in downtown businesses there is no question that the Peabody community is excited about Saturday's Western Wonderland event. The all-day event includes activities geared toward people of all ages and are hoped to be enjoyed by people from all communities.
Buzz has been circulating about Santa and his special appearance in the parade. Not only is Santa going to be in the parade but Miss Kansas, Michelle Wathers will be the grand marshal, and the Aces and Six Guns Old West Gun Fighters will be performing directly after the parade.
If you are interested in participating in the parade registration has been extended to 5 p.m. Thursday. Please contact Kristen Hooper by phone at 620 983-2174.
Western Wonderland pins and brochures are available in local businesses and will be available on-site Saturday. For only $3 you have access to eight different events including the Boot Scootin' youth dance and the Cowboy Poetry and Country Western Music at 7 p.m. The Chuck Wagon Supper begins at 4:30 p.m and is only $6 with a Western Wonderland pin and $7.50 without.
