EMS responds to 80 calls in May years ago

During May, ambulance runs were consistent with the previous month. The report was presented Monday to Marion County Commission.

There were 80 runs with 20 being medical emergencies, 18 no transports, 12 falls, eight standbys, seven motor vehicle accident, six turnarounds, five transfers, three cardiac, and one other (death).

There were five first response runs — three in Goessel, and one each in Burns and Durham. Marion rescue truck was dispatched four times.

In other department business:

— Evening defensive driving classes will be offered Tuesday and Wednesday at Florence.

Two defensive driving classes were given June 3 at Florence and Hillsboro. All emergency medical services personnel are required to take the class.

— Emergency medical technician classes began Monday at Butler Community College, Marion, and June 27 at the city building at Florence.

— A CPR class was provided June 6 to the staff at Bethesda Nursing Home, Goessel.

— Woody Crawshaw of the emergency medical services office, provided information to the commission regarding the amount billed, collected, and yet to be collected.
