Emergency Medical Technician classes will be offered to residents

Florence Ambulance is hosting EMT classes for county residents interested in volunteering to serve their communities in medical emergencies.

"This isn't just for people in Florence," said Florence crew chief Judy Creamer. "We hope to have people from all over the county sign up."

Florence will be hosting the Emergency Medical Technician training course which will meet once a week for the next six months beginning June 13 at the ambulance building in Florence. The ambulance building is at 515 Main in Florence.

"The actual training will begin June 27," said Creamer, "but we want to get everyone signed up by the 13th, get them into defensive driving training, and give them a little orientation about what to expect.

"The classes will run from 6 to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays, beginning the 27th," she added. "It's a commitment people can make to their town, their neighbors, and their families. You never know when you will need emergency medical help and it would be critical if we didn't have enough people to fill the positions."
