Durham peaches are popular in Summit

Maude Gaines and LaVonne Ammeter were in Hillsboro Wednesday, then went to Durham to get peaches. Vernon Klingenberg, Esta and Calvin Hall, Evelyn and Lee Sidner, and Nancy Wiebe came by the Ammeter farm Wednesday evening to pick up peaches.

LaVonne Ammeter attended Mike Woodruff's funeral Monday morning in Peabody.

LaVonne Ammeter and Dorene Kirkpatrick worked Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday in El Dorado.

Lisa Clark visited LaVonne Tuesday evening.

Adolph Schmidt's funeral was Wednesday afternoon. The Summit community extends sympathy and prayers to his wife Ruth and daughter Carol and family.

Maude Gaines visited at the Marvin Nightengale home Friday and helped Sherry quilt.

LaVonne was shopping in Marion Saturday morning. She visited Donella and Ron Humphries in Florence on the way home. Maude Gaines visited LaVonne Saturday afternoon. Betty Kyle also was an afternoon caller.

Patti Gaines took Maude Gaines to Wichita Saturday to Lena Lanman's 90th birthday celebration. Maude reports a good time. Lena and Maude were high school friends and have maintained a good friendship ever since. Betty and Kenneth Lanman, former Burns residents, also were at the celebration.

We had church at Summit Church Sunday morning. We sure appreciate our minister, Rev. David Randall of the Peabody United Methodist Church.

Maude Gaines and LaVonne ate lunch at the Chuck Wagon in Florence Sunday. In the afternoon they visited Elsie Tittle and her houseguests, her brother and wife, Ed and Marge Roberts of California. We sure did enjoy visiting with them, talking about the good ol' days.

Maude and LaVonne visited Ike and Marie Clark later Sunday afternoon.

And the rains came last week! We should all be so thankful!
