Drive-by shooting damages property
Peabody Police Chief Jeff Pohlman characterized the damage done to a front door at Phillips 66 and the driver's side window of the car belonging to Phillips 66 owner Suleiman Almawaiseh, as a drive-by shooting.
Pohlman said the damage occurred late Saturday at the gas station/convenience store at 911 N. Walnut and in the 100 block of N. Walnut where Almawaiseh's car was parked.
"From what we know," Pohlman said, "someone drove through the parking lot at Phillips 66 and fired into the door. The same thing happened to the car downtown."
Peabody police are investigating the matter which is classified as criminal damage to property.
Police reports also show a theft May 29 from a residence at 605 N. Elm. A motor scooter was stolen from the residence.
Sometime in the past week criminal damage to property was committed at a garage at 9th and Olive streets. Someone threw rocks through the windows of the garage, breaking the glass. The garage is owned by Don Lemley.
These cases are under investigation.
