Donna Ediger
Donna Ediger, 74, went to be with the Lord Dec. 19, 2006. She waged a long and heroic battle with multiple myeloma. She died at her rural home, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born Feb. 2, 1932, at Newton, to John S. and Alta Marie (McDougal) Kluge. She married H. Milford Ediger on Feb. 25, 1951, at Newton.
She was a 1949 graduate of Newton High School, She attended St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing and was a graduate of Wichita School of Cosmetology.
She worked as an operator for Bell Telephone Company, was a cosmetologist, an employee of Baker Furniture Store, an insurance clerk for Bethel Hospital, and retired as office manager for Dr. Michael Bates.
She was a member of Peabody United Methodist Church and transferred membership June 3, 1984, to Salem United Methodist Church, Newton. She was an active member and devoted volunteer. She was a charter member of the Vintage Red Hatters of Oz, Newton.
Donna was a friend and inspiration to all who knew her. Her faith and love of God were evident in how she lived her life and all the ways she reached out to others.
She is survived by her husband of the home; children, Rebecca Ediger of Wichita, Russell Ediger of Overland Park, Melinda Lang and husband, Steve of Hutchinson; sister, Sheila McGuire of Nashville; grandchildren, Craig Lang and wife, Heather of Burrton, Abby Reed and husband, Dr. Mark Reed of Pensacola, Fla.; and great-grandson, Wallace Henry Lang of Burrton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market St., Wichita 67202, or the donor's charity of choice.
Baker Funeral Home of Peabody was in charge of the services. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Salem United Methodist Church, Newton.
