DAYS OF YORE: 85 years ago

(From the March 8, 1917, files of the Peabody Gazette-Herald)

Frank, the eight-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. D. Strattan died Tuesday after a few days illness with grippe. The funeral was yesterday at the home.

Miss Annah Keiler and Fred Keiler, who teach in Elbing schools, came up Saturday for a visit until Sunday evening with home folks.

Half-minute Interviews:

Ray B. Roberts — The story is told that a class of boys were quoting verses from the Scripture. One said, "The Lord loves a cheerful giver" and the next boy said, "A fool and his money are soon parted."

J.W. Fost, manager Peabody Equity Union — We either will have to get larger quarters or quit advertising in the Gazette-Herald.

S. Jarvix: — The last year I kept a horse and buggy, it cost me $70 to feed the horse. When I got a Ford car, it cost me $35 in gasoline and repairs for one year. And I made several long trips, too, — one almost to the Colorado line.
