Mrs. John Berns entertained the members of the duplicate bridge club at her home Wednesday afternoon.

Betty Newton and Victor Seibel spent Monday afternoon in Newton and spent the evening skating.

Miss Marcia Stallwitz is spending a few days this week visiting with Miss Marjorie Jacobs.

The variety department of Smith's Store was sold this week to Mr. and Mrs. Keith Covell, who will assume immediate possession as soon as the invoicing is completed. The archway between the two rooms will be closed and the two departments will become two distinct stores. Mr. and Mrs. Smith will continue to operate the dry goods and ready-to-wear department in the south room under the name of Smith's Dry Goods Store, and the variety department in the north room will be operated by Mr. and Mrs. Covell as the Covell Variety Store.
