DAYS OF YORE: 60 years ago

George Gephart, sheriff of Marion county after considerable time trying to replace Leon Knight, undersheriff, whose untimely death was mourned by everybody, has made a happy choice in a new appointment. Lloyd M. Davies of Peabody, President of the Kiwanis Club, active in Young Republican circles and former International Harvester dealer here, has been chosen and plans to move with his family to Marion the first of the month.
Peabody High School students entered in the Music Festival at Emporia last Friday received high ratings as follows: Vocal Solos: Robert Kornhaus, Highly Superior; Edith Bundy, Soprano, Superior; and Pauline Truax, Alto, Excellent.
