(From the April 2, 1942, files of the Peabody Gazette-Herald)

Fire completely destroyed the fine farm home five miles northeast of town on the Clarence Coleman farm Sunday evening occupied by Walter Robinson. Considerable furniture was saved from the downstairs rooms and most of the clothing of the family, but the upstairs furniture and the home is a complete loss.

Thirteen men placed in 1-A classification. Those from Peabody are: Homer Searles, James Edward McMillan, and Leslie Myron Kellum.
