Mr. and Mrs. Dean Denny of Wichita are parents of a son, Gary Wayne. He was born at Wesley Hospital Sunday morning, Sept. 30, and weighed 8 pounds 6 ounces. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Beeton are the maternal grandparents. The new baby has four great-grandmothers.

Allen White was guest speaker at the Pennsylvania Mennonite Church near Hesston on the 222nd quarterly Sunday school conference program last Sunday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parker and Landon of Valley Center visited Saturday in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Slocombe.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gibbs are parents of a daughter born Friday at Bethel Deaconess Hospital in Newton. The young lady has been named Cinthia Kay and weighed 9 pounds 5 ounces.

Mrs. L.R. Johnson is the owner of a rare plant, the night-blooming cereus, which is in bloom at present, but only blooms at night. The interior of the blossom resembles the Lord's Supper. It is the first bloom in six years.

Ron Slymaker former Peabody basketball wizard, is burning up the Canal Zone service basketball league this year, according to word received by Emporia State Coach Gus Fian and others. Slaymaker played a year of freshman ball at Emporia State. Not only has he been the top scorer in most games, but his driving play, passing, and team leadership were praised by his coach, Lt. Tony De Luca.
