FIFTY YEARS AGO

Jerry Watts, who took reserve championship on his Hereford heifer at the Marion County Fair entered her in the Harvey County Fair and won the grand champion and blue ribbon. Jerry is entering his heifer in the Topeka Free Fair.

Mary Rempel went to Wichita last Wednesday to stay in the Ernest Roberts' home while Mrs. Roberts is in the hospital for a major operation. Mrs. Rempel came home Sunday. Mrs. Roberts is in Wesley hospital.

Joe Hess, Eddie Bentz, and Richard Atkins arrived home Saturday from Camp Ripley, Minn., where they had attended National Guard camp.

Barbara Manka, daughter of Mrs. Theo Manka, returned home last Tuesday from Plains where she had been visiting with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Manka.

Vickie Gaines has been dismissed from St. Francis hospital in Wichita where she was undergoing treatment for polio. She is still showing improvement.
