DAYS OF YORE: 50 years ago

(From the Aug. 21, 1952 files of the Peabody Gazette-Herald)

Last Thursday night Carl Carson went fishing with Kent Covell and Brock Baker. Luck didn't run too good, between the three of them, they got only one apiece worth saving. A few little bait-size perch were caught so they set themselves some bank lines. Carl called them mid-morning Friday and told them they'd better go see what they had. And they sure enough did have a great big beautiful shovel head catfish weighing in at 11 1/2 pounds. At last report Brock and Kent were worried about getting their pictures taken. Congratulations, boys.
