Modern, up-to-date dial telephone service for Peabody is one step closer with the awarding of a contract to construct a new telephone building here. Dial telephones should be in use in Peabody by next summer.
Halloween in Peabody was relatively quiet this year with just a few pranks being played. A hayrack at the high school, a horse tank on Mayor Graham's front lawn, and a few other such pranks were about the size of it.
Marion County has contributed 77 students to the record enrollment of 2,587 students at Emporia State Teachers College this fall.
