The First Baptist Church honored their 1985 senior graduates at morning services May 5. Seniors Mike Jury and Connie Liptau and their parents were the special guests at a potluck dinner sponsored by the Willing Workers women's circle.
The graduating class of Peabody High School had a tie for top student academically, so co-valedictorians were named. Tied for top academic performance were Charlene Bruner and Sherri Henry.
Dr. and Mrs. Bruce Sebree and children of New Berlin, Wis., were weekend visitors in the Don Bloomer and Jack Sebree homes. They were here to attend Donna Bloomer's graduation from Emporia State University.
Melvin "Mick" Weems of rural Peabody was successful May 12 on a spring bear hunt in southern New Mexico. The hunt took place near Winston in Black Mountain range. The guide and Weems traveled about 45 miles in three days hunting in the dense wilderness before they finally treed a 300-pound cinnamon-colored bear.
