The latest special event at the Gary Jones Farm at the south edge of Peabody was the cheese making workshop held there Saturday. Directed by Marilyn Jones and Julie Irish, seven helpers and teachers assisted. The day's activities drew 60 participants, all intent on learning the process of cheese making.
Peabody Girl Scout Neighborhood held its annual father and daughter banquet Saturday evening in the multi-purpose room at the grade school. Betty Sebree, neighborhood chairman, opened the program by welcoming the fathers and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. The most cookies were sold by Sharlene Brunner, Cadette Troop 68. Marsha Darnall, Junior Troop 75, was second and Pam Cook from Cadette Troop 68 was third. All three girls sold over 200 boxes.
A surprise party for Mrs. Mildred Nicklaus was held at her country home Saturday. Her children and grandchildren were hosts for the occasion.
Mary Ann's School of Dance will present her 15th annual recital both Friday and Saturday at the Marion City Auditorium. Among the 100 dancers performing are the following from Peabody: Mandy Avery, Lynn Balthrop, Jennifer Gaines, Denae Pickens, Amy Richmond and Lelitia Saenz.
