DAYS OF YORE: 100 years ago

"Lord" Scully, who owned thousands of acres of land in the northern part of the county, died in London Oct. 17.

Lucien Hoyt met with an unfortunate accident at Lamar, Colo., last Thursday. He was standing on a platform as the train pulled into Lamar ready to get off quickly, when the coupling between the cars broke right were he stood, throwing him down between them. If the air brakes had failed to work and the train had moved a foot, he would have probably been badly injured, if not worse. As it was, he was badly bruised and shaken up and was laid up at Lamar for several days.

N.B. McDonald is preparing to build a new barn on his farm.
