The new minister at the Peabody Bible Church will be Perry Baird. It will be a homecoming for Baird, his wife Terry, and their three children, since the Bairds lived in Peabody from 1987 to 1991, and served the Bible church in music and leadership.
Tana and Nathan Clegg of Lehigh were Sunday afternoon visitors of Jack and Betty Sebree.
Jessica and Jordan Mellott of Oklahoma City and Kristen Whisler of Wichita Falls, Texas, spent last week with their grandparents, Alana and Judy Mellott.

Visitors Sunday at the home of Irene Stovall were her sister, Ruth Romig of Manhattan, and a friend, Bo Swartz.
Ben Robinson continues to improve. He can drive again, but is allowed only limited activity.
In a double ring ceremony at the Burns Immaculate Conception Church, Patricia Kay Holm and Tobin Robert Foster were united in marriage at 2 o'clock in the afternoon of May 16, 1981. Servers included Mrs. LaVonne Ammeter and Mrs. Luba Holm.

Charles DeForest, who recently returned from a tour of duty in Europe with the Army, spoke to the Peabody Kiwanis Club Monday night. He showed slides of scenes taken in Germany, including Berlin and the Russian sector, Italy, France, and Holland.
Mrs. Dave Seibel of Newton entered Bethel Hospital on Tuesday of last week for surgery.
Starting next week the Old Home Paper, the Peabody Gazette-Herald will undergo one of the periods of "being in a bind." Jerry Gilmer, who has taken care of much of the mechanical work on the Gazette-Herald for a couple of years will be changing jobs. He has secured a job in Uncle Sam's Armed Forces and will be working there for a couple of years. Since it is virtually impossible to hire printers in a small-town shop, the Gazette-Herald will just have to do without. However, the picture is not all black. Ron Kieferle has been hired and will start work next week.

Today we commence the publication of the 34th volume of the Gazette. How time flies. Thirty-three years ago Peabody was a struggling, ambitious community of but a few hundred inhabitants and all unconscious of the future trials and tribulations it was to undergo, particularly the grasshopper scourge the following year in 1884.
The second 10c shower at the Peabody Hardware Company's Store, which occurred last Saturday afternoon was a great success, even greater than the first. The big window full of goods was sold out in about 20 minutes.
Mrs. I.G. Nichols of Summit has a night-blooming cereus which blossomed Sunday night and was out from nine till 6 a.m. It came out unexpectedly and only a few of the neighbors had the opportunity to see this rare and beautiful flower.

By reference to our county map it will be seen that Marion County is well supplied with water. An abundance of pure, cold drinking water can be had nearly everywhere in the county by dipping 10-40 feet. Never failing springs are also frequently found in Marion County, among which is Lee Springs, and are quite noted for the volume and quality of water.
A wagon train of emigrants passed through here Wednesday, returning from the plains of Colorado. Their destination was St. Joseph, Mo.
