A sparkling white horse of concrete was erected in the park just inside the front gate this week. The horse was contributed by John and Pearl Claassen as a memorial to all of their family members who are deceased. It also serves to remind anyone visiting the park of the historical connection of horses and the Peabody city park.
James Myers, son of Jim Myers, left Wednesday, May 29, for Army National Guard boot training in Ft. Benning, Ga. He will be gone for nine weeks.
Rex and Berneda Jewell of Manhattan were Saturday guests of his mother, Gladys Jewell.

Joleen Rempel received an associate of arts degree from Hutchinson Community College during commencement exercises May 21 in convention hall.
Eldon Andres returned home last week after hospitalization in Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
Mrs. Ellen Pond of Florence was about to get into her car when she was struck by lightning May 28. She was rushed to St. Luke Hospital and was checked and released. Temporary effects of the incident left her speechless for three days with numbness on the left side of her body.

Marcia Stallwitz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Art Stallwitz, graduated with a class of 22 from the Kansas City Conservatory of Music Saturday.
A disposal sale of the tools of the late A.C. Zuhars will be held this Saturday afternoon, June 9.
Mr. and Mrs. John Slocombe are the parents of twin girls, born Sunday evening at Bethel Deaconness Hospital at Newton. The twins were named Martha Jean and Mary Louise.

The Presbyterian strawberry festival or strawberry presby — well, the strawberry festival which everybody attended last Friday evening, and which was conducted for the benefit of the Presbyterian society of this place, was a very pleasant gathering of folks, and proved profitable pecuniarily, the net proceeds being some $40.
Four hundred quarts of strawberries were picked from Mr. Merrill's patch last Monday.
Miss Della Umsted has the thanks of this "department" for the finest floral bouquet of the season.
